Natural Shaped Pool Our natural-shaped pool is surrounded by a lush landscape. Like a lake in the middle of the forest, our pool offers great entertainment for all ages. Its beach-style access makes it easy to use by disabled guests. We also have a separate kiddie pool for the enjoyment of the little ones. Three natural spring-water hot pools are available in the recreation areas of Borinquen Mountain Resort. One offers hot water, the second warm water and the third luke-warm water for a healty and invigorating temperature shock treatment. Relax in the hot water pool, then soak in the warm pool and finish by cooling down in the luke-warm pool. Then go for a volcanic mud bath to complete your skin beauty treatment.
Take advantage of the health properties of volcanic mud in our recreation facilities. Volcanic mud is formed from the mixture of hot-spring water and ashes and is rich in sulfur. Volcanic mud baths help feed your skin with nutrients, possesses anti-inflamatory properties, contributes to the release body toxins and promote relaxation. Boiling volcanic mud is collected daily from the fumaroles located on-site and placed in an urn to cool down for your use. Spread volcanic mud liberally on your entire body or selected areas, let it work on your skin for about 20 minutes while you lay under the sun or better yet, while relaxing in our steam rooms. Open showers are located in the mud-baths area for you to remove mud after your treatment.  There are several natural steaming volcanic fumaroles located inside the premises of Borinquen Mountain Resort & Spa. Our two natural steam rooms are wood huts carefully built over the steaming waters which allow a free flow of steam inside. The steam rooms are located by the natural-shaped pool and by the thermal-springs pools. The steam from volcanic fumaroles is rich in sulfur and has that characteristic moldy smell that takes a little getting used to. However, your skin and entire body will benefit from a healty twenty-minute session in our steam room.  Nature has been generous with the Rincon de la Vieja mountains. The mild weather is simply perfect (not too hot, not too cold, not too humid, not too dry) and contributes to an amazing variety of vegetation and fauna. Natural landscapes surrounding Borinquen are waiting for you to discover them and hiking is the perfect way to do it. Follow our hiking paths and discover howler monkeys, rare species of birds, lizards, butterflies and insects. Observe the milenary trees and the flowing clean waters of the rivers. Also you can take a walk or go for a run through the cattle pastures, which offer great views of the surrounding mountains. The steep hills pose an excellent challenge for experienced runners and a healthy test for walkers. So, don't forget to pack your hiking, walking or running shoes along with your bathing suit and take full advantage of everything that our recreation facilities have to offer.
