Loved the Mud Baths!
(Fort Wayne, Indiana)
It is isolated, but they offer so much and it is so peaceful (...) The spa is divine with treatment rooms overlooking the mountain stream and the resort sits on 5,000 acres with its own dairy and cattle farm. The food was delicious with homemade butter, rolls and ice cream. Our room was huge with 2 double beds, a small refrigerator, a desk and 2 rocking chairs.
I loved the porch and would sit outside every morning drinking coffee and listening to the forest wake up. Howler monkeys live in the trees next to the mud baths, and we would sit in the thermal water and watch them eat and play. Toucans fly around in the morning and the resort has built hiking trails following the stream into the forest, where there are ancient petroglyphs to see and many more animals. The tours are excellent and very well priced.
We did the ATV, canopy, and horseback riding tours and loved each one. The place is a hidden gem and we thought it was more enjoyable than the Arenal area, which we also visited on our trip. This was more peaceful and luxurious. Go now before the place becomes better known and the prices go up. We are already planning a return trip.
